THE HAGUE, 28 January 2020.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the UnitedNations, has fixed time-limits for the filing of the initial pleadings in the case concerning Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (The Gambia v. Myanmar). By an Order dated 23January 2020, the Court fixed 23July 2020 and 25January 2021 as the respective time-limits for the filing of a Memorial by the Republic of The Gambia and a Counter-Memorial by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The Court made the Order taking into account the exceptional circumstances of the case and its gravity.
