My name is Jennifer Esme Tetteh, and I am from Ghana. I arrived in Winnipeg, Canada in September 2019 to pursue a Master’s programme in Peace and Conflict Studies. I am a second-year student at the University of Manitoba. My research interest is about Rural-Urban migration from the Northern sector to the southern sector in Ghana which largely involves young women and children who find settlement in the city market places and engage in head porterage as an occupation and a means of livelihood. This is termed in Ghana as (Kayaye) due to the numerous challenges faced by these migrates, My research focus is finding effects that the Kayaye situation have on their younger generation and what can be done to save the younger ones.
