Dr. C.Emdad Haque received his Undergraduate and Master’s degree in Environment and Geography from Jahangirnagar University(Bangladesh) in 1976 and 1978 respectively. He received his second Master’s and PhD degree in Geography and Environment from university of Manitoba (Canada) .

C. Emdad Haque is a Professor of Resource and Environmental Management at the University of Manitoba. Prior to joining the University of Manitoba in 2001, Previously, he was a Professor of Geography at Brandon University where he had served as Chair of the Department of Geography during 1997-2000. His primary academic interest is to explore into the various facets of, and processes in the nature and society interface. His background is in the area of resource and environmental management, with concentrations in environmental risk assessment, hazard and disaster management, and water resource management. In his academic and professional life, Emdad has contributed chiefly, through both theoretical and applied research, to validate the need for integration of knowledge of social sciences and humanities with physical and biological sciences for addressing environmental problems effectively. sustainability’. The significant on-going projects are the SSHRC Insight-funded “Social learning and change in disaster management for building resilience”; IDRC-funded “Accelerated climate action and enhancement of empowering women and social equity in Bangladesh”; SSHRC Partnership-funded “Vulnerability to Viability: A global partnership to build strong small-scale fisheries communties”; SSHRC Partnership-funded “Dried fish matters: mapping the social economy of dried fish in South and Southeast Asia”.
