Overview
In recent weeks, the humanitarian situation for Rohingya civilians fleeing Bangladesh is severe escalated and dire. Since August 5, 2024, there has been a significant increase in the number of Rohingya refugees arriving at the bank of Naf River, seeking safety from ongoing violence and persecution which is carry out by Arakan Army so called (AA) and Myanmar Junta Government. The Rohingya community in Arakan State, Myanmar, has faced a worsening humanitarian crisis marked by increased violence and repression, indicating ongoing military and AA operations targeting Rohingya civilians, resulting in killings, arbitrary arrests, and forced displacements. Access to basic necessities, including food, healthcare, and shelter, has deteriorated significantly, exacerbating the dire living conditions in the region.
Current Situation
As per observation, over 16,000 Rohingya individuals have made the perilous journey to escape deteriorating conditions in refugee camps in Bangladesh. The situation for new arrivals of Rohingya civilians remains dire, primarily in Bangladesh, where many have sought refuge following persecution in Myanmar. The overcrowded refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar continue to struggle with inadequate resources, leading to concerns over health, sanitation, and security, prompting many to flee in search of better living conditions. On other hand, there are unfortunate hostile between different arms groups around Rohingya Refugee Camps which led the unwanted violence, security-related issues, killing, forced conscription, and internally forced displacement among the community.
As of recent reports, the international community is still addressing the humanitarian needs, but funding has been inconsistent. There are ongoing efforts to find durable solutions, including discussions about repatriation, though many Rohingya are hesitant to return due to fears of continued persecution. Overall, the humanitarian crisis persists, with many Rohingya facing uncertainty about their future and basic rights.
Humanitarian Response are needed
Local and international organizations are mobilizing resources to support the new arrivals is incredible. Efforts include:
- Emergency Shelter and Food: Immediate provision of temporary shelters and food supplies to address urgent needs.
- Health Services: Establishing clinics and mobile health units to provide medical care, including vaccinations and maternal health services.
- Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Improving access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education to prevent disease outbreaks.
- Protection Services: Implementing measures to ensure the safety and rights of Rohingya individuals, particularly vulnerable groups like women and children including aging individuals.
- Education: Setting up learning centers to provide education and psychosocial support for children.
- Livelihood Support: Initiatives to promote self-reliance through vocational training and skills development.
- Coordination with NGOs and UN Agencies: Collaborating with various organizations for effective resource allocation and service delivery.
- Advocacy: Raising awareness and advocating for the rights and needs of Rohingya refugees.

We urge individuals, organizations, and governments to support ongoing humanitarian efforts to provide food, medical healthcare, livelihoods support and funds can make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable community. And also, requesting to Bangladesh authorities to take immediate actions to cleansing of Arms movement around the Rohingya Refugee Camps. These responses aim to address the immediate necessities and also considering long-terms integration and support for the Rohingya.
