On October 18, 3 Rohingya died in a human trafficking vehicle packed with many people.
Thailand-based media reported that 2 members of human smuggling were arrested in connection with the discovery of a dead body near Chon Phong district of Thailand, and 7 injured persons and 3 dead bodies were found among the Rohingya fleeing from Myanmar.
It is reported that a total of 26 Rohingyas were brought by the people smuggling gang, and 3 Rohingyas were killed and 7 others were injured while riding in the truck because people were being brought together with goods in the truck.
As soon as the death occurred, the leader of the smuggling group fled and 16 Rohingya escaped from the vehicle, the police said.
Many Rohingyas are fleeing their homes during the resurgent fighting in Rakhine State.
It is reported that there are many people smuggling groups traveling through waterways to the Thai-Myanmar border and from Thailand to Malaysia.
